USS Enterprise Support Flights 1968
by Jim Ford

In late January 1968, crew 6 was in the Philippines to fly support off the coast of Viet Nam and drop parachute flares if needed. That flight never took place, we instead had our orders changed and went to Japan. We found out we were going to participate in submarine protection for the USS Enterprise because the North Koreans commandeered the USS Pueblo. We flew 3, maybe 4 flights during that time and did actually detect a Soviet nuke submarine on our second flight. We also loaded live weapons aboard the P3B before the first flight and had them aboard for each subsequent flight. That was the last mission I made with crew 6.
